The Pikes Peak Region has a reputation for being one of the most "military friendly" areas in the United States. It is estimated that 40% of the economy of the area is directly or indirectly related to the military. Fort Carson, U.S. Army Post, has served our nation since WW II. It continues to grow today. The Air Force Academy has been a fixture since 1954 attracting over a million visitors per year. Peterson Air Force Base, Falcon Air Force Base, and Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Base are all home to space command centers. Cheyenne Mountain has been headquarters for the North American Aerospace Defense Command [NORAD]) since the early 1960's.
Support services for military personnel, dependants and veterans are available at several locations throughout the metro Colorado Springs Area.
Many active military families purchase Colorado Springs or Woodland Park real estate. The quality of life in the Pikes Peak Region also entices many Service People to remain or return to the area once they separate from the military. With the growing aerospace and defense related industries, the Pikes Peak Region is an excellent transitional location for men and women with a military background.
