Today's Real Estate Market...

  It’s Spring---is it time to stay or sell???

 

Spring is finally here!  Or at any rate the Aspen buds are swelling!  This is the time of the year when some folks are considering selling their home…asking themselves that annually recurring question: “Should we stay here and fix up?  Or should we sell?”   Let’s examine both of those options:

 

Stay  

This is not the year to “see how much we can get” for your home!   Don’t even try it if this is your motivation.  Do your spring cleaning and enjoy your home this summer.   The smartest thing you can do for yourselves and your future equity growth is to do the routine maintenance.   So often we go to homes to evaluate price and are saddened by years of deferred maintenance.  Don’t let that happen to you!  It is cheaper and more prudent to do a little each year and stay on top of those little things.  What are those “things"?

  1. Pine needles out of the gutters. Check the roof while the ladder is out.
  2. Oil/stain the deck.
  3. Check the attic/roof vents for critters finding refuge over the winter.
  4. Paint/stain the exterior siding.
  5. Check/repair the screens.
  6. Service the furnace and clean the chimney.
  7. Clean the windows—we get used to looking through dirt.
  8. Attend to the landscaping.
  9. Have your carpets professionally cleaned.
  10. Reseal your paved driveway.

 

Stay and enjoy the beauty of living in Colorado!  Wait, if you can, for a better selling market, and complete the routine maintenance your home deserves.

 

Sell

We have been seeing a large number of folks who do need/want to sell their home for good sound reasons.  Some good reasons:

1. We are leaving the area for another job.

2. Our family dynamics are changing---more kids, less kids, death, divorce, illness, etc.

3. We can afford a bigger/smaller/different home.

4. We want/need to be closer to family.

5. With the price of gas, our commuting has become too expensive.

6. We need to scale back due to current economics.
