Established in 1892, the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce now lists over 1,600 business members that employ over 70,000 employees in the Colorado Springs metro area.
Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce initiatives contributed strongly into the procurement of Fort Carson in the 1940's and the Air Force Academy in the 1950's. Today those efforts continue to attract high tech industry and manufacturing firms.
Tourism is a major economic factor in the Pikes Peak Region and the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce's contribution in these efforts helps produce over six million visitors to the area, per year.
Divisions within the Chamber focus on military affairs, business affairs and government/public policy development.
The August 2006, Money Magazine rated Colorado Springs as the "Best big city in the nation to live and work."
