Pikes Peak Region - Teller County

Teller County is west of El Paso County in the Pikes Peak region of southern Colorado and includes a number of mountain communities along the Highway 24 corridor. The largest town is Woodland Park, with additional residential communities in Florissant, Divide, and the areas surrounding the historic mining town of Cripple Creek.  U.S. Highway 24 runs through these towns and directly to Colorado Springs.

Teller County naturally divides into two areas; north and south. In southern Teller County you'll find the towns of Cripple Creek and Victor - both historical mining towns. Cripple Creek was incorporated in 1892 and is designated a National Historical Landmark District with a number of historical buildings.  This small mining town has experienced rejuvenation in the past few years since being selected as one of three Colorado towns with limited casino gambling.  Cripple Creek is also the County Seat of Teller County and has a current population of around 1,500.  It is a high mountain community at an elevation of 9,494 feet.  Victor is a smaller town of about 500 people. It is located about 6 miles southwest of Cripple Creek.

Northern Teller County is comprised of the larger towns of Woodland Park, Divide, Florissant, and Pike National Forest.

Mountain properties in Teller County boast a unique mix of ranching, mining, forest, and recreation-oriented activities. The entire region offers the best in mountain living, far removed from the traditional aspects of city or suburban lifestyles. Actually, a community like Woodland Park offers the best of everything - peaceful mountain living with 20 minute access to the traditional benefits of working in a city such as Colorado Springs.

Of course, mountain living is different than suburbia. Higher elevations mean different weather, driving, vegetation, animal life, and seasonal activities. However, the peace, clean air, and scenery can be addictive!
