As far as activities, Woodland Park has really taken off in the last few years. Although a small community, Woodland Park is known for a number of great restaurants and unique shops.
In addition, Woodland Park is now home to the Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center, an interactive museum and activity center that's great for kids of all ages. The town is also close to the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument, home to huge petrified redwood stumps that were created during a major water event at thousands of feet above sea level.
Woodland Park is also home to the Colorado Wolf & Wildlife Center, where families can visit creatures rescued from the wild, including wolves and foxes. Also within a short drive is the cog railway at Pikes Peak, the mining towns of Cripple Creek and Victor, Mueller State Park & Wildlife Area, the Air Force Academy, Garden of the Gods, Olympic Training Center, and other activities in the Colorado Springs region.
